The City of Round Rock will be conducting a temporary disinfectant conversion of its water system starting Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and ending Friday, June 27, 2025. The Fern Bluff MUD purchases wholesale water from the city, so our water lines are a part of this conversion process.
What this means to us: For the month, the city will be changing its disinfectant, chloramine, to free chlorine. The water will still be safe to drink but it may taste or smell differently. During this conversion, our district will be performing additional fire hydrant flushing to speed up the process.
The Fern Bluff MUD will be suspending all water restrictions from May 27th to June 27th. This will be a great opportunity for our residents that wish to clean or fill a pool, establish new sod or landscaping or power wash a house or driveway. Residents must still pay for any water used but water restrictions will not be enforced.
