Fire Hydrant Flushing

You may have seen it many times and thought to yourself, “what a waste of good water?”

Periodically flushing water mains through fire hydrants is a routine maintenance activity which is important to the integrity of the district’s water distribution system.  Flushing removes harmless minerals and sediment that collect in the mains and helps to ensure high water quality. Hydrant flushing is important for ensuring chlorine residuals remain at constant optimal levels to prevent bacteria growth.  Disinfection (chlorine concentrations) degrades the longer it is in the water, which means flushing helps keep the water moving and keeps pipes from stagnating.  Please know, the Fern Bluff MUD never wants to waste our water, but flushing is necessary to maintain high water quality and it’s a standard practice in the water industry as a regulated function for water providers.

New Park Playgrounds in Progress.

Our new playscape facilities have been completed at Veterans Park and Cheatham Park and are in progress at Brightwater Park and Friendly Oaks Park. Fern Bluff and Olsen Meadows are planned to break ground later this spring.

MUD’s – One Number

24hr contact number to report incidents at parks, water emergency, illegal fishing at ponds.

Residents can call the MUD’s One-Number at (512) 238-0606 to report issues in the district.

Yard Work Outside Property Line

The district has seen an increase in residents clearing and planting, storage of firewood and materials, outside the residents’ property line.  This is considered RECKLESS DAMAGE OR DESTRUCTION under Texas Law.  Please do not clear, cut, trim or plant anything outside of your fence line and on MUD property.  You will be responsible for cleaning up and subject to fines.

Leash Your Dogs, it’s the Law

Williamson County requires that all dogs MUST be on a leash, no longer than 6 ft lead, or confined to the owner’s property.  Owners of unleashed dogs or with leads longer than 6 ft, are subject to citations and fines of up to $500.  Additionally, it is a violation of MUD rules to allow unleashed dogs on all MUD property, including parks, greenbelts, drainage areas, etc.  Please be a good neighbor and clean up after your dogs!

Hazardous Waste and Styrofoam Recycling

Just a reminder that Fern Bluff MUD has purchased vouchers from Round Rock to allow us to deposit hazard waste at their 310 Deep Wood Dr. facility. Visit our website for more info on what can/cannot be dropped off, and when drop-offs can be made.

In addition, Round Rock is allowing our district residents to drop off cardboard and clean Styrofoam at the Deep Wood location during their normal operating hours.

Water Softeners

Reminder: Water Softeners require routine maintenance, and most manufacturers suggest yearly maintenance.  If you see reduced water flow or discolored, please have your water softener serviced.

Bikes on trails

We have received several complaints from residents regarding bikers on our trails.  Please be conscious of all pedestrians as cyclists must ALWAYS YIELD to walkers and joggers.

Motorized Vehicles

The Fern Bluff MUD does not allow motorized vehicles on any MUD property.  This includes golf carts, electric bikes, dirt bikes, and 4-wheelers.  Violators will be reported to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Car Break-ins

Car break-ins are increasing in Williamson County, and numerous break-ins have occurred in our neighborhoods.  Please remove all items from view in your vehicles and LOCK YOUR DOORS!
