Water Emergency!  July 27, 2023

The Fern Bluff MUD is in Stage 1 Mandatory Water Restrictions and based on use over the last 72 hours, many residents are not adhering to these restrictions.  Water use is increasing dramatically in the overnight hours, 3 am to 8 am, and this seems to correlate to outdoor irrigation.  We need all residents to decrease any non-household use by 50%, at minimum.

The district is at capacity.  To protect our capability to provide household use as well as fire protection residents MUST decrease their water use immediately.  The leak repair to the City of Round Rock’s waterline was successful.  However, due to a valving issue we are still experiencing supply constraints, but this is just a part of the problem.  In a nutshell, MUD residents are using too much water for outdoor watering!  Please assess your landscape; if your turf is not showing signs of stress, you are watering too much.

Residents Must Immediately:

  1. Abide by the twice per week water schedule below.
  2. Reduce the run times per zone on irrigation systems.
  3. Avoid run-off and irrigating excessively.

Stage 1 – Outdoor Watering Schedule, irrigation twice per week

Address end in:

0 or 3                    Monday/Thursday

4 or 8                    Sunday/Thursday

1, 5 or 9                Wednesday/Saturday

2, 6 or 7                Tuesday/Friday

Due to lack of rain and high temperatures, Stage 2 (once per week irrigation) may be inevitable in the near future.
